US earthquake: magnitude 3.5 tremors in South Pasadena; California wakes up to tremors

On Sunday morning, things took a shaky turn in the United States. A magnitude 3.5 earthquake has rocked the South Pasadena area, according to the US Geological Survey.

Tremors struck the California city just before 10 a.m. The USGS reported that the seven-mile-deep earthquake struck about 2.3 miles northeast of South Pasadena and 2.4 miles east-northeast of Alhambra. Although no direct damage or injuries were recorded, online accounts claimed the earthquake was also felt throughout Los Angeles County.

NBC Los Angeles reported reports of light shaking in the San Gabriel Valley, parts of Los Angeles, Downey, Whittier, Studio City and Burbank.

The internet went into a frenzy and Californians asked each other if they felt the tremors. Several Internet users claimed that the earthquake was “short and sharp.” Due to the unusualness of the phenomenon, people suggested that they were not used to the rattling.
