Month-long construction project on the Pancheri bridge will begin on Monday

The following is a press release from the City of Idaho Falls.

Contractors will begin work on the Pancheri Bridge over the Snake River on Monday, June 3.

Crews will begin work on the bridge deck of the Pancheri Bridge over the Snake River Monday morning. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the construction work and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will apply within the construction work. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution to ensure the safety of their employees.

Work is expected to stop over the July 4 holiday and traffic will be restored to its original pattern over the holidays, with all lanes on the bridge open. Construction will begin on July 8 and traffic will be reduced to one lane with lower speeds again in each direction.

The project will focus on replacing a defective girder line, replacing rails along the north side of the bridge and rehabilitating the girder bearing and deck.

Access to all businesses in the area remains open. Please reduce speed, obey traffic signs, and pay attention to construction personnel in the work zone.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, the project will be completed in early October. For questions or comments about this project, please contact Curtis Cannon at (208) 785-6281, Ext. 1.
