Obituary of Shirley Keesling – Lapeer, MI (1935-2017)

Keesling, Shirley Anne Age 81; of Lapeer (formerly of Pontiac); died Monday, May 15, 2017. Shirley was born August 5, 1935 in Pontiac to Kenneth and Bernita (Jenkinson) Carroll. She attended St. Michael’s High School, class of 1953. She married Daniel Keesling on February 14, 1953 at St. Michael’s in Pontiac. Shirley enjoyed crafts, coloring and painting, flowers, playing cards with friends, up north, the casino, bingo and visiting family and friends. Above all, Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. Shirley is survived by her husband, Daniel Keesling; nine children, Steve (Kathy) Keesling of Dryden, Ken Keesling of Johannesburg, MI, Dani-Ann (Dan) Connolly of Waterford, Lori (Rick) Luxon of Pontiac, Kathy Jo (Jim) Keith of Waterford, Kelly (Teri) Keesling of Manchester, Keith Keesling of North Branch, Teresa (Bill) Ouellette of Highland and Mark Keesling of North Branch; son-in-law Myron Maley of Pontiac; thirty-nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and brother, Jeffery Carroll of Waterford. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Dee Maley; three brothers, Dennis, Ronald and Raymond Carroll; and her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer County Medical Care Facility (Suncrest), 1455 Suncrest Drive, Lapeer, MI 48446. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 814 West Nepessing Street, Lapeer, MI 48446. Father Raymond Arwady will speak. Shirley’s family will receive friends at the church the morning of the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
