Video forecast for Wednesday morning

A frontal boundary that will remain in southern Louisiana for the rest of the week will cool us down a few degrees, but bring multiple showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.

Today & tonight: Wednesday morning will start with clear and dry conditions, allowing morning temperatures around the Capital Region to start 10 degrees or cooler than previous mornings. Low temperatures around 70°C in the capital, with even lower dew point values, provide a refreshing feeling to start the day. Wednesday will see the most sunshine during the morning hours, with cloud cover gradually increasing through the afternoon as high temperatures climb into the low 90s. Although still humid, wind chill temperatures will be about 5-10° lower than at the start of the week.

With a frontal boundary over the area, scattered numerous showers and storms are motivated to form and move across southern Louisiana late Wednesday afternoon into the early evening hours. Some thunderstorms may be on the strong side, with heavy rain showers and gusty winds. Once the showers pass, overnight conditions will be mostly dry with few clouds. Temperatures will cool to the low 70s early Thursday.

Next one: The same front that brought rain Wednesday and Thursday will remain over the area through the end of the week. The front will continue to produce isolated to scattered showers and storms on Friday and similar ‘summer’ pop-up storms are likely to occur throughout the weekend, although no day appears to be a complete ‘washout’.

Morning temperatures in the low 70s and afternoon temperatures into the low 90s will be the trend throughout the weekend and into next week, with a mix of sunshine and clouds each day. Once the stalled front starts moving north this weekend, humidity will gradually rise again next week.

The tropics: All is calm for the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. No tropical development is expected over the next seven days.
