Pittsfield Township, MI: Driver With Suspended License Joins Zoom Court While Driving, Leaving Judge Stunned

He ducked into Zoom Court while driving, while the judge discovered his driver’s license had been suspended.

It was believed that Michigan resident Corey Harris could take the crown for 2024 King of Hare Brained Decisions when he showed up via Zoom for a pre-trial hearing on a driving while license suspended charge earlier this month. .while driving, an activity he says is not allowed.

The facepalming and hilarious incident recently came to light after that part of the Zoom Court hearing went viral all over the internet lately.

According to the details of the case, Harris was originally charged in October 2023 with a driver’s license suspension in Pittsfield Township.

Because the legal process is notoriously lengthy, Harris was eventually arraigned on April 24 this year with a preliminary investigation conducted via Zoom with a warrant to appear scheduled for May 15, the date of the video above.

As the video shows, Harris not only took advantage of this virtual appearance opportunity by appearing on Zoom on her way to a doctor’s appointment, he showed himself while drivingthe only thing he is not allowed to do.

The judge, the Hon. Judge Cedric Simpson initially did not even know his driver’s license had been suspended and was simply surprised at the time that he was distracted while driving.

Frankly, if Harris showed up for another charge, it seemed like he would have chalked it up to being a bad driver and might have let this slide.

Then Simpson looks at the details of Harris’ case and can’t believe what he sees. Harris has a suspended license.

“Okay, so maybe I don’t understand something. This (the case) is about driving while he was suspended… and he was just driving, and he doesn’t have a driver’s license,” Simpson clarified to the prosecutor.

The prosecutor can’t believe what they are seeing as they are captured on the court camera laughing.

Can you blame them?

The prosecutor suppressed their laughter.

Simpson, still in disbelief over Harris’s figment of his imagination, denies any chance Harris has of getting bail, revokes it, and orders him to turn himself in to the Washentaw County Jail, where he would remain for the duration of the trial. however long he would stay. that could last.

I say “supposed” because, as this screenshot of the details of the case shows, there was a bail hearing the next day, where, although bail was again denied by a different judge, bail was ultimately set the day after, on the 17th, was established.

Bond was finally set on May 17.

Perhaps this time the judge has ordered Harris to wear an ankle monitor to ensure he doesn’t try to drive again, something he’s likely been doing all along since he was charged and since his driver’s license was originally suspended before October 2023 . .

Harris should probably get a bike and a bus schedule and stick to it because, as this shows, there’s nothing he can do about it.

Harris’ pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 5.
