Jarin Stevenson is back

Alabama basketball started the day with three players heading to the NBA. Alabama basketball ends the day with just one player entering the NBA draft after Mark Sears announced his decision to return to Alabama.

Jarin Stevenson was the only player with Alabama awaiting a decision late Wednesday night. Don’t delay, Alabama fans. The final domino fell and Jarin Stevenson will return to Alabama, rounding out possibly the best roster in the country, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

The freshman from Chapel Hill, North Carolina played in all 37 games for Alabama last season, but averaged just 5.3 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game and 0.4 assists per game. Stevenson elevated his play when he needed to, scoring a season and career-high 19 points in Alabama’s Elite Eight win over the Clemson Tigers.

Despite playing his best on the big stage and declaring for the draft, Stevenson did not receive an NBA combine invite nor does he appear in NBA mock drafts. Stevenson would also have been in a two-way situation, similar to Mark Sears, where Alabama could compete financially against a two-way deal.

The Crimson Tide will have thirteen scholarship players in the rotation for the 2024-2025 season. Tide 100.9 has a list of all of Alabama’s offseason moves here.

The nation’s deepest roster has gotten deeper, and Alabama fans can rest easy tonight knowing no more draft decisions need to be made.
