Arkansan wins $100,000 lottery ticket during daily commute scratch cards

TRUMANN, Ark. (WMC) – A lucky Poinsett County lottery player scored a big win this week during his daily routine of buying scratch-off tickets on his way to work, according to officials with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Trumann resident Argenys Torres won $100,000 Saturday in the $5 More Money instant game. The winning ticket was purchased at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 12 at 301 Highway 463 North in Trumann during Torres’ commute.

As part of his daily routine, lottery officials say Torres stops by a gas station to buy scratch-off tickets or the occasional drawing ticket. He always buys instant game tickets from the trash labeled with his lucky number: 8.

This time his effort turned out to be a lucky one!

“I was so happy, I almost had a heart attack!” he said. Lottery officials say he first shared the news with his boss, who later accompanied him to the claims center.

“Now that he knows he won, he is happy that he can help his family,” his boss told lottery officials. In addition to helping his family, Torres also plans to invest his prize and continue playing lottery games.

There is one main prize left in the instant game More Money.
