Diamondbacks star Zac Gallen leaves the start vs. Mets after six pitches due to a strained right hamstring

NEW YORK – Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen strained his right hamstring and left the start against the New York Mets on Thursday night after six pitches.

The 28-year-old right-hander, who finished in the top five in NL Cy Young Award voting in each of the past two seasons, jumped as he released a fastball to DJ Stewart, his second hitter. Manager Torey Lovullo and an athletic trainer went to the mound, and Gallen limped as he walked to the dugout.
